Three Irish swimmers secured Personal Best times in the pool this morning during the heats at Day 6 of the IPC European Open Swim Championships, while Ellen Keane and Nicole Turner booked their slots in this evening’s finals.

First into the water for Ireland was 14-year-old Barry McClements in Heat 1 of the Men’s 100m Breaststroke SB8, which saw him secure yet another fantastic PB when he tipped home in a time of 1.34.54.

Clare man Jonathan McGrath was up next in Heat 2 of the same event (Men’s 100m Breaststroke SB8) and also achieved a brilliant Personal Best time of 1.45.80.

Next in was Dubliner Ellen Keane who competed in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke SB8 and booked her spot in this evening’s final when she swam home in a time of 1.27.54.

Finally, Nicole Turner continued her impressive form of the Championships – which saw her scoop two silver medals earlier this week – by achieving a phenomenal PB time of 5.54.28 in the Women’s 400m Freestyle S6 to earn her a slot in this evening’s finals.

The schedule for the finals is as follows:
5.04pm – Ellen Keane: Women’s 100m Breaststroke SB8
5.37pm – Nicole Turner: Women’s 400m Freestyle S6
