Nine of our leading para athletes, and key support staff left Dublin Airport this morning bound for warm weather camps.

Five of the track athletes; Jason Smyth, Orla Comerford, Paul Keogan, Conor McIlveen and Greta Streimikyte departed for Tenerife where they will be joining up with wheelchair racer Patrick Monahan who has been out there for the past week with coach Ian Mirfin and his training group.

Four of the throwers; Noelle Lenihan, Niamh ,McCarthy, Orla Barry and Deirdre Mongan are on their way to Gran Canaria with coaches Dave Sweeney, Jim Lenihan and physio support.

Michael McKillop is also headed for a training stint abroad as he flies out to an altitude camp in Font-Romeu in the Pyrenees with an Athletics Ireland group.

These eleven day camps are essential preparation as the athletes face into an exciting season ahead with the centrepiece of the World Championships in London this July only a hundred days away.
