
An Irish team of 8 swimmers has arrived in Sheffield ahead of the British Para Swimming International meet. This event represents the last opportunity for Irish swimmers to reach the minimum qualification standards ahead of the World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships that are set to be hosted in Dublin this August.
The 8 swimmers that will be competing in Ponds Forge across the 4 days of competition are Ailbhe Kelly, Berry McClements, Ellen Keane, James Scully, Jonathan McGrath, Nicole Turner, Patrick Flanagan and Sean O’Riordan.
The action gets underway tomorrow and continues until Sunday. Each of the Irish swimmers have multiple events with Barry McClements being the busiest of the Irish contingent as he competes in 5 events including the 50, 100 & 400m Freestyle, 200m IM and 100m Butterfly. All 8 of the members of Team Ireland will be in action on Day 1.
Connor Murray, from Limerick Swim Club will also compete at the event in the 100m Breaststroke and the 200m IM.
