The 2018 Triathlon Ireland Paratriahtlon National Championships will see some of the country’s best swim-bike-run athletes line out in Belfast this weekend.
The race will be run as part of the Belfast Titanic Triathlon and will see athletes across four categories swim 750m, bike 20km and finally run 5km in a city centre course.
Chief amongst the competitors is 2018 Commonwealth Games athlete David Kerr, who will be lining out in the PTWC-H1 category; and 2016 Rio Para-Olympian Catherine Walsh who will compete against Judith Mc Coombe and Chloe Mc Coombe alongside their guides in the PTVI category.
In the men’s PTVI category Stephen Campbell and Leo Hynes will take on Donnacha McCarthy, just a few days after McCarthy represented Ireland at the European Championships in Tartu.
Andrew Nicholson will race the PTS4 category while newcomer Tony Ward, who is as yet unclassified, will tackle one of this first triathlons.
