There were four Irish swimmers in action in the morning session of Day 6 of the World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships.
Meath’s James Scully made his second final of the championships in the Men’s 100m Freestyle S5. Finishing 4th in his heat in a time of 1:22.16, he qualified seventh fastest for tonight’s final, the first race of the evening session at 18:00.
16-year-old Nicole Turner kept her 100% record of qualifying for finals, finishing second in her heat of the Women’s 50m Butterfly S6. Her time of 37.04 in her favourite event saw her qualify second fastest for her final tonight at 18.19.
In his final event of the championships, Barry McClements finished 5th fastest in heat 1 of the Men’s 400m Freestyle S9 event. His time of 4:32.62 saw him take the eighth and final spot in tonight’s final at 18.39.
Sean O Riordan finished 5th in his heat of the Men’s 100m Freestyle S13 event, just missing out of qualifying for tonight’s final. ParaSwimming legend Ihar Boki qualified fastest and will aim to win an incredible sixth straight gold in these championships at 19.53 this evening.
