Paralympics Ireland and the Dublin 2018 World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships LOC would like to thank the Centre for Eye Research Ireland and its staff who played a key role in the success of the Championships.

Classification aims to determine which athletes are eligible to compete in para sport and to group eligible swimmers into sport classes according to their activity limitation in a certain sport.  The facility layout, standard of equipment and high-level technology within the Centre for Eye Research helped ensure that visually impairment classification evaluations were easy to implement and worked well for both classifiers and athletes.

The Centre for Eye Research Ireland staff embraced the opportunity of being involved with this event from the very beginning, with their supportive and friendly approach assisting greatly during both the planning and delivery phase of the event. The quality of the staff was especially evident in their attention to detail, ease of communication and willingness to provide high standard of services across the board.

Paralympics Ireland highly recommends the Dublin Institute of Technology and the Centre for Eye Research Ireland. We appreciate its involvement in ensuring the classification services delivered for the World Para Swimming European Championships were of a world-class standard fitting for high-performance sport.
