Paralympics Ireland have launched the recruitment process for 2 vacancies on the current Paralympics Ireland Athletes Commission.
Applications are welcome from current and former Irish Paralympians to become members of the commission.
Paralympians have a wealth of experience and knowledge that can be a huge asset to Paralympics Ireland and to future representatives of Team Ireland.
The Athletes Commission gives our Paralympic stars an opportunity to have an input into the preparation programmes of Paralympic Games (Ireland). Members of the commission will also be regularly consulted by Paralympics Ireland on specific issues and ongoing activities.
The Athletes Commission will consist of 6-10 athlete advocates, those advocates must have competed at either Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012 or Rio 2016. The Commission will act as a voice at multiple levels of the organisation and they will have the ability to ensure that athlete specific issues are highlighted. The Athletes Commission will be represented by one of its members on the board of Paralympics Ireland. Meetings of the Athletes Commission will take place at least twice a year.
Interested athletes are invited to apply to become members of the Athletes Commission by filling out the application form and returning it to me at derek@paralympics.ie or to info@paralympics.ie by no later than Friday, October 25th.
