Katie-George Dunlevy and pilot Eve McCrystal and Martin Gordon and pilot Eamon Byrne warmed up for their target events at the Para-cycling World Championships by finishing second in the Tandem Sprint Relay test event.

It was a trial run for the race, and did not earn the foursome any medals, but they did take home some Dutch fruit cake. Dunlevy and McCrystal are back in action on Friday for their target event the 3km individual pursuit, Gordon and Byrne waiting until St Patrick’s Day for their target: the 200m Sprint.

Colin Lynch, Chris Burns and Richael Timothy got their Worlds underway in the 3km individual pursuit, Burns and Timothy setting massive PBs, with Timothy also setting a new National Record as she rode 04:48.945.

Burns’s target event is the 1km TT, which comes up on Friday morning. The performances of Lynch, Burns and Timothy in their individual events are also counting towards a combined Omnium prize.
