Positive Para Swimming Performances from Berlin

The Irish Para Swimming team have had an encouraging experience to date from the Para Swimimng World Series Meeting taking place currently in Berlin.

Three Irish swimmers progressed from their heats yesterday morning through to the evenings finals sessions. Ailbhe Kelly reached the C Final of the 200m Freestyle final with Nicole Turner and Ellen Keane progressing to the B and A finals, respectively, in the 100m Breaststroke.

Ailbhe Kelly was the first in the pool and she will be delighted that she set herself a new personal best in the event as she swam a 2:40:56 to finish 4th overall. It was a similarly good performance from Nicole Turner who swam her best time of 2019 in a 1:45:88 which saw her finish 6th overall and also win a bronze medal in the junior category. Ellen Keane was the third finalist in action and she was also delighted with her performance of 1:22:21 securing her best time of the year to date.

There were 3 more Personal Best performances in this mornings heats, they came from Ailbhe Kelly, Patrick Flanagan and Sean Ó Ríordan. Nicole Turner and Ellen Keane will return to the pool again this evening as they have both secured their places in the finals of the 50m Back Stroke.
