Day one of the Swim World Series off to a good start. Both Ellen and Nicole have advanced to the final of the 100m Breaststroke this evening. Barry and Patrick raced in the 100m Freestyle but unfortunately Barry was disqualified for an infringement on the start and Patrick didn’t advance from the heats. Ellen is ranked 6th going into this evenings final with Nicole ranked tenth, both having recorded good times this morning in qualifying.

This is an incredibly competitive meet with over 300 swimmers from 20 countries in action. The heats and finals are being run as multi-classification meaning swimmers from various classifications are competing in the same heats. Advancement from the heats and final placings are determined based on a points system. Essentially the faster the swim the higher the points. This points system will ensure the overall World Series winners will be the best performing athletes over the duration of the series meaning every performance counts.
There’s a live stream available online here http://bit.ly/2oLN2X0 and the finals get underway at 5pm this evening. We’ll keep you posted on Twitter and Facebook also.
