Teen sensation Nicole Turner is certainly making a massive splash at this week’s IPC European Open Swim Championships in Funchal, Portugal, as the talented 13-year-old scooped her second medal of the week this evening.

The Laois teenager not only won silver in the 100m Breaststroke SB6 this evening, but also tipped home in a fantastic Personal Best time of 1.46.29.

Speaking afterwards, an exhausted Turner stated: “After this morning I thought I was a bit off, but that swim was amazing. I can’t think anything at all at the moment – delighted and tired.”

Also swimming in the finals this evening was Dubliner Ellen Keane, who featured in the 200m Individual Medley SM9, and tipped home in a time of 2.43.50 to secure sixth place in Europe.

Earlier on in the day, Clare man Jonathan McGrath finished his Men’s 100m Butterfly S8 heat in a time of 1.26.75, while 14-year-old Barry McClements put in a solid performance to finish his Men’s 100m Individual Medley SM9 in a Personal Best time of 2.38.50.
