Athletics Ireland, in partnership with Paralympics Ireland, are delighted to present No Barriers – Just Speed, a dedicated coach-development masterclass focused on coaching elite and developing Para sprinters.
This one-day event offers a unique opportunity for sprint coaches to deepen their understanding of Para sprinting, explore best-practice coaching approaches, and gain practical insight from a world-leading coach working at the highest level of the sport.
Masterclass Lead Coach
The masterclass will be delivered by Joe McDonnell, one of the world’s leading Para sprint coaches and a multiple medal-winning performance coach. Joe brings extensive international experience and a proven track record of developing athletes from pathway level through to podium success.
What the Masterclass Will Cover
The programme will combine classroom-based learning with practical application and will include:

An introduction to Para sprinting, including an overview of impairment groups and competition structures

Key coaching considerations for Para sprinters, focusing on inclusive, athlete-centred and performance-driven practice

Performance profiling for Para sprint events, supporting long-term athlete development and progression

A practical on-track session featuring Ireland’s leading young Para sprinters, translating theory into coaching practice
Who Should Attend
This masterclass is open to qualified sprint coaches who are currently working with Para sprinters, or who are interested in developing their skills and knowledge in Para athletics as part of their coaching pathway.
