The 2025 World Cup race in Abu Dhabi kicked off the crucial Paralympic cycle, offering athletes their first shot at racking up points for LA2028 qualification. Chloe MacCombe and her guide Aoibh Clarke dominated the Women’s PTVI category with a stellar performance across all disciplines.

The duo set the pace early, exiting the swim in 12:32 and establishing a commanding lead of over a minute. They continued to widen the gap during the three-lap bike course, maintaining their advantage through to the finish line.

MacCombe and Clarke crossed the finish line in an impressive 1:10:11, clinching gold with the day’s fastest splits in swim, bike, and run. This victory marks a strong start to their season and sets a promising tone for their Paralympic qualification journey

Speaking after the race, MacCombe said: “It was Aoibhs first time guiding for a full triathlon, and she did a great job. Great conditions out there today, the water was a bit choppy yesterday in the recce but it was alot calmer today, bike was a bit windy and the run was good. Just a really solid race and a good way to start the season”.

This was Aoibh’s first time racing a triathlon with Chloe and speaking after their win she said: “Chloe swam really well, the swim went really good and the bike course was really fun although it was really windy at the back of the course where the trees open…run course was really good and a really really good course.”
