Irish Riders Ready for UCI Para-cycling World Championships in Belgium

A team of six riders will proudly represent Ireland this week at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in Belgium.

Dunlevy & Kelly Aim to Defend World Titles

Reigning World Champions Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly return to the world stage with their sights set on defending their tandem titles.
The duo enjoyed a historic 2024, winning Paralympic gold in Paris and claiming a double World Championship title, adding to Dunlevy’s already remarkable record that includes previous victories with pilot Eve McCrystal. Since forming their partnership, Dunlevy and Kelly have seamlessly continued Ireland’s tradition of excellence in tandem racing.

  • Women’s B Time Trial: Friday, 11:23am CET

  • Women’s B Road Race: Sunday, 8:35am CET

The men’s tandem pairing of Damien Vereker and Mitchell McLaughlin, who competed together at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, will once again team up in Belgium.

  • Men’s B Time Trial: Friday, 8:30am CET

  • Men’s B Road Race: Sunday, 8:30am CET

Richael Timothy, another of Ireland’s Paris Paralympians, will compete in the WC3 category as she looks to build further on her international experience.

  • WC3 Time Trial: Friday, 3:18pm CET

  • WC3 Road Race: Sunday, 11:05am CET

Rounding out the Irish squad is Cormac O’Callaghan, who makes his return to the World Championships after competing in Scotland in 2023. He will contest the MC1 category.

  • MC1 Time Trial: Friday, 2:44pm CET

  • MC1 Road Race: Sunday, 5:40pm CET
