Chloe MacCombe and Aoibh Clarke competing for Ireland in the Para Triathlon World Series

The 2025 World Triathlon Para Championships get underway next week in Wollongong, Australia, with a team of three para triathletes set to represent Ireland.

Paralympian Judith MacCombe and her guide Eimear Nicholls are set to compete in the Women’s PTVI event, looking to continue their solid start to the season. The duo scored their first World Para Series bronze in Taranto in June, and following that up with third at the Europeans in Besancon.

They will be joined in that category by Paralympian Chloe MacCombe and her guide Aoibh Clarke. MacCombe has secured two podiums already in 2025, at the World Para Series Montreal and more recently at the World Para Cup in Alhandra.

Rounding off the team is Tom Williamson who will compete in the PTS5 event. Williamson has had a breakthrough season in 2025, most recently with a personal best performance securing silver at 2025 World Triathlon Para Series Montreal. Having been on the podium in his last three starts, these results will have given Tom confidence heading into Worlds.

Natasha Kelly, Triathlon Ireland Paratriathlon Team Lead outlines the strength of Team Ireland this year; “The team are extremely excited for the 2025 Paratriathlon World Championships in Wollongong, which is a key event in our racing calendar. Having a strong team of five athletes representing Ireland at Championship level is testament to their hard work and commitment coupled with the help of their support teams. We are looking forward to a successful Championships.”

The Championships kick off next week, with the World Triathlon Para Championships taking place on Saturday morning, 18th October. Watch Tom, Judith and Eimear; and Chloe and Aoibh in action live from 21:15 (Irish Time) on Friday, 17th October on triathlonlive.tv
