The European Athletics Indoor Championships, Apeldoorn 2025 takes place this weekend and will mark the 37th edition of this prestigious event.
From March 6th to 9th, 2025, the Omnisport Arena will welcome over 700 elite athletes from 50 nations, competing across seven thrilling sessions. With an expected 27,500 spectators, the atmosphere promises to be electric, setting the stage for unforgettable performances on the track.
Among the elite athletes competing, Paralympic bronze medallist Orla Comerford is set to line up in the Para 60m mixed classification race on Saturday at 13:17.
Orla delivered an outstanding performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, securing a bronze medal in the T13 women’s 100m final completing the race in 11.94 seconds, just shy of her personal best and earned the Raheny sprinter her first Paralympic medal.
The race was notably competitive, with Azerbaijan’s Lamiya Valiyeva setting a new world record of 11.76 seconds to claim gold.
Announcing the news on her social media Orla said: “Some exciting news… I’ll be competing at the European Indoor Championships this weekend! There’ll be a women’s Para 60m (mixed classification) on the program and when I received the invite, I knew it was an opportunity I had to take! Para athletics is athletics and showcasing both together for the public and in the media only strengthens this understanding. Excited to be a part of this shift, long may it continue. We want to see more Para athletes at the big meets this summer and beyond!”
