The 2025 Irish Times Sportswoman of the Year Awards took place on Friday with a number of Paralympians among those celebrated during the ceremony.
Every month, the publication recognises an athlete who has achieved excellence in their sport. This year, 15 winners were chosen with two sportswomen acknowledged in March, August and September.
For the eighth time, Katie-George Dunlevy was honoured following her exploits in Para cycling, this time alongside Linda Kelly. The duo won gold in the Time Trial and Road Race at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in Ronse, Belgium.
Meanwhile, Orla Comerford was named the Sportswoman of the Month for September alongside boxing gold medalist Aoife O’Rourke. The 28-year-old Raheny Shamrock sprinter enjoyed a sensational World Championships in New Delhi, capturing gold in both the T13 100m and 200m events. Comerford continues to edge closer to the T13 100m world record, now just 0.11 seconds shy of the 11.76-second mark.
Heptathlon star Kate O’Connor was named as the overall Sportswoman of the Year.

Orla Comerford was also among the nominees for the RTÉ Sportsperson of the Year award for 2025, joined on the prestigious list by Róisín Ní Riain who won five medals at the World Para Swimming Championships in Singapore. The Limerick swimmer was also named on the shortlist for the RTÉ Young Sportsperson of the Year.
Meanwhile, Dunlevy and Kelly were recognised for their outstanding 2025 with a place among the nominees for the RTÉ Team of the Year.
