Patrick Monahan Wins Gold at Seville Marathon

Patrick Monahan retained his Seville Marathon title today by the narrowest of margins. He edged Jorge Madera Jimnez by only one second to take the top spot for the second year in a row. His time of 1:33.14 was just enough to claim the gold medal for 2023.

It was a busy weekend at home for Para athletics with three athletes competing at the 123.ie National Senior Indoor Championships which took place on Saturday and Sunday at the National Indoor Arena.

Keeping with his consistent from this season Cathal Ryan ran the in 400m in 0:52.11.

A strong run from Aaron Shorten saw him finish his 1500m heat in under four minutes (03:59.92) which earned him a spot in Today’s final. Keeping his run sub four once again (03:59.80) Shorten finished 10th overall.

Today, Greta Streimikyte finished in 7th place in the 3000m final posting an impressive time of 09:53.38.
