PTSB NextGen Makes Final Stop at the NRH Annual Sports Championships

unnamed (1)

After five successful events over the past few months, the PTSB NextGen programme made its final appearance for this year at the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) during their annual sports championships.

This is the 10th year of the NRH Sports Championships which aims to promote sport and inclusion among patients at the NRH. Since its inception in 2013 the games have evolved from being a one-day event with competitions for adults with spinal cord injury, to a four-day event with competitions for people from all adult and paediatric rehabilitation programmes.

Current patients were given the opportunity to take part in the testing that the Permanent TSB NextGen programme offers and find out more about the different para sports that are available in Ireland.

Paralympics Ireland Sport Director and Chef de Mission for Paris 2024 Neasa Russell said, “We were thrilled with the opportunity to be at the National Rehabilitation Hospital during their annual sports championships. Being at the NRH was a really important event for us. It concludes our series over the summer where we’ve gone around the country and also held a swimming specific day. This will hopefully develop a long-lasting partnership with the NRH and become a close partner with them going forward so we can work with them, signpost athletes to para sports around the country and give everyone an opportunity to discover their paralympic potential.”
