MTU Tralee hosted Paralympics Ireland for another PTSB NextGen Community Series event on Friday 18th of October. Attendees had the exciting opportunity to try out a variety of activities, including para powerlifting, cycling, badminton, rowing, and throwing events. Participants also engaged in speed testing and various physical assessments, allowing them to explore their strengths and discover new sports they might enjoy.
We were thrilled to be joined by students from MTU Tralee, who played a vital role in making the day a success. Paralympians Niamh McCarthy and Jordan Lee were on hand to offer advice and share their experiences with the young attendees. Their presence provided a unique opportunity for participants to learn directly from accomplished athletes in Para sports.
The PTSB NextGen Community Series is focused on empowering individuals with disabilities to explore Para sports in their area. This program invites people aged 10 and older with eligible impairments to discover their Paralympic potential, whether they’re current athletes or newcomers to the sporting world.
Participants have the opportunity to learn about various Para sports, engage with expert coaches, and connect with local sports organizations. The initiative aims to inspire the next generation of Irish Paralympians and provide a pathway for skill development and participation in inclusive sports.
By attending these events, participants will not only gain valuable insights but also be guided towards local opportunities that align with their sporting interests.
