Reacting to his selection, Sean said: “I’m really honoured to be selected as the Team Ireland flag bearer and it will be a special moment to lead the team tonight. Representing Ireland is always something I’m proud and privileged to be able to do.”

Speaking about the announcement, Team Ireland Chef de Mission Richard Doyle said: “I am extremely proud to announce Sean as the Team Ireland flag bearer for EPYG. Sean has had a hugely positive influence on the group. His maturity and dedication to his sport have shone through and he has set a really positive example for the younger athletes on the team.”
