Ireland will be represented by a seven strong team at the 2026 Europe Triathlon Para Championships in Tarragona, Spain, on Sunday, 14 June.
The championships form part of the wider Europe Triathlon Championships programme, with some of Europe’s leading Para triathletes set to compete for continental titles.
Tom Williamson will lead the Irish challenge in the Men’s PTS5 category. Williamson returns to European Championship competition having won bronze at the previous two editions of the championships, in Besançon in 2025 and Vichy in 2024. Following a breakthrough 2025 season, he will be looking to deliver another strong performance against a high quality European field.

In the Women’s PTVI race, twin sisters Judith and Chloe MacCombe will both line up for Ireland.
Judith MacCombe will race alongside guide Eimear Nicholls. The pair finished eighth at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and went on to claim European bronze in Besançon last year, continuing a strong partnership on the international stage.
Chloe MacCombe will be guided by Jemma Speers in Tarragona. Chloe has been a regular podium contender on the international Para triathlon circuit in recent seasons and finished sixth at her debut Paralympic Games in Paris last summer.
Donnacha McCarthy and guide Sean Husband will represent Ireland in the Men’s PTVI category. The experienced pairing will be looking to build on a strong start to the season, having finished fifth at the World Triathlon Para Series in Yokohama last month.
Triathlon Ireland Performance Director Gary Ryan said:
“The team is looking forward to this weekend’s championships. For some this is a season opener but it is an exciting, talented squad with lots of experience racing at international level. We are looking to use these championships as a building block towards LA28.”
The Irish team arrives in Spain following a strong period for the Para triathlon programme, with World Triathlon Para Series podiums, European Championship medals and Paralympic Games performances all part of the squad’s recent progress.
The team will be led by Olympian Russell White, who oversees the Triathlon Ireland Paratriathlon Programme.
