Strong Performances in Para Events at Cork City Sports International Meet

Finalists in the men’s ambulant 100m line up shoulder to shoulder on the blue track at MTU Stadium during the Cork City Sports International Athletics Meet.

The 2025 Cork City Sports International Athletics Meet brought world class athletes to MTU Stadium for an evening of elite competition. The meet featured two Para events: the LeisureWorld and Cork Sports Partnership 800m T54 Women’s Final and the Paralympics Ireland and LeisureWorld 100m Men Ambulant Final.

The women’s race showcased an impressive performance by the athletes. Representing Great Britain, multiple Paralympic champion and world record holder in sprint and middle‑distance events Hannah Cockroft claimed first place with a commanding time of 1:57.19. Close behind, Irish Paralympian Shauna Bocquet secured second with a time of 2:01.87. Norway’s Anisa Abdulle followed in third, finishing in 2:17.91, while Great Britain’s Fabienne Andre took fourth place with a time of 2:23.12.

In the Men’s Ambulant 100m Final, Cathal Ryan (T47) of West Muskerry AC claimed victory with a time of 11.43 seconds. Fionan Ruane (T13) from Moy Valley AC followed closely in second place, clocking 11.61, while his teammate Damien Moyles (T13) finished fourth in 12.27. Third place went to Alex Lee (T64) of Galway City Harriers, who crossed the line in 11.97. Rounding out the field were Aryell Sheedy (T37) of Donore Harriers in 13.06 and Daire Macken (T37) from Metro St. Brigid’s AC, who posted a time of 13.18.
