Vision Sports Awareness Training

Vision Sports Ireland is hosting a series of Vision Sports Awareness Training sessions designed for coaches, volunteers, and teachers who want to make sports and physical activities more inclusive for individuals with vision impairments.

February 18/7:00pm – 8:30 pm

April 22/7:00pm – 8:30pm

June 17/7:00 pm – 8:30pm

A range of sports designed for individuals who are blind or vision impaired will be showcased, along with adapted equipment options. Participants will also learn about the diverse programs offered by Vision Sports Ireland. Additionally, Vision Sports Awareness Training, officially endorsed by Sport Ireland Coaching, will be highlighted.

The session will run for 90 minutes and will be conducted online. Participants who complete the training will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

What to Expect:

  • Understanding different types of Vision Impairment
  • Learning sighted guide techniques
  • The importance of description and colour contrast in coaching
  • Exploring blind and vision-impaired sports and adapted equipment
  • Information on Vision Sports Ireland’s programs

This course is endorsed by Sport Ireland Coaching and is open to anyone aged 16 and above.

Fee €15 per person (public course)

Private courses are available for €400, accommodating up to 20 participants. These sessions are open to National Governing Bodies (NGBs), Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs), schools, clubs, and community groups.
