Sport Ireland’s Women in Sport Week 2025 will take place from March 3rd to 9th, aligning with International Women’s Day on March 8th. First launched in March 2021, this annual event has become a significant platform for celebrating, promoting, and increasing the visibility of women’s sport and women in sport. Visibility is a key pillar of Sport Ireland’s Policy on Women in Sport, and Women In Sport Week plays a vital role in supporting the policy’s objectives.
International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The 2025 campaign theme, “Accelerate Action—Collectively, we can Accelerate Action for gender equality,” underscores the need for continued progress.
The purpose of Women in Sport Week is to recognize the contributions of every woman and girl involved in sport, whether as players, coaches, officials, volunteers, or leaders. It also serves to highlight the ongoing efforts of Sport Ireland, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs), and other stakeholders in advancing women’s sport. Additionally, the week showcases key initiatives funded by the Sport Ireland Women in Sport Programme, reinforcing the commitment to creating greater opportunities and representation for women in sport.
