Leevale AC’s new High Performance Centre in Cork was the location for 2017’s final Para-Athletics Throws squad day on Saturday December 9th.

National coach, Dave Sweeney and Strength and Conditioning lead at the Irish Institute of Sport, Eamon Flanagan, worked with athletes to put the finishing touches to a very productive Autumn training period for the athletes.

Niamh McCarthy, Noelle Lenihan and Orla Barry have been very industrious over the last few months in preparations for the 2018 European Championships to be held in Berlin next August.

Dave Sweeney was particularly pleased to see the progress that the athletes have been making and was very appreciative to the athletes and their personal coaches for the work that they have put in since the London World Championships in August; “There has been a noticeable increase of the training levels and extremely good performance indicators coming out of the last few months training. This augurs very well for 2018 and I would be very hopeful that this group can push towards Irish, European and World record level performances in 2018.”
