Para Athletes Have Busy Weekend

It’s a busy weekend of action for the Irish Para Athletic team who are competing both nationally and internationally this weekend.

The bulk of the action will happen in Santry where the AI Games will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday. The Irish para athletes competing in Santry will include Jason Smyth who competes in the 100m have made his seasonal debut in London with an impressive 10:72 at the Lee Valley Games in London.

Niamh McCarthy, Orla Barry and Noelle Lenihan will be competing in the discus while Jordan Lee will take part in the High Jump and Mary Fitzgerald will compete in the Shot Put.

David Leavy will be in action also but that 1500m event will take place in Belfast. It’s a more international venue for Greta Streimikyte who will be in action in the Iberoamericano in Spain on Saturday.
