There were two podium finishes for Irish para triathletes this weekend at the World Triathlon Para Cup in Taranto, Italy.7
Donnacha McCarthy & guide Sean Husband (PTVI) secured 2nd place in their category.
“Definitely a contrast in emotions compared to the events of last weekend in Vigo. Such a close race, finishing only 7 seconds behind 1st place but we’re happy to be coming home with a silver medal.”
Tom Williamson was back on the podium claiming 3rd place in the PTS5 category.
“After leading for the majority of the race, getting caught and passed in the last 1.5k of the run was a tough pill to swallow. However, that’s just how sport goes. We learn and we grow. Excited for another hitout next weekend in Besançon, France where hopefully the conditions will be cooler. It is going to be one of the final races for my campaign for Paris.”
Oliver Gunning & guide Kyle Duncan placed 8th.
