The 2025 Para Athletics World Championships will take place in New Delhi, marking the first time the event will be hosted in India.
The 2025 Para Athletics World Championships, the world’s largest single para sport event, will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium from September 26 to October 5.
New Delhi 2025 will mark the 12th edition of the championships and the fourth time it is hosted in Asia, following Doha 2015, Dubai 2019 and Kobe 2024.
In addition, the Indian capital will also host a World Para Athletics Grand Prix for the first time next year which is scheduled to take place from March 11 to 13 also at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
An Irish team last appeared at the Para Athletics World Championships in 2023. The six-person team featured three Paralympic veterans Orla Comerford, Greta Streimikyte and Mary Fitzgerald along with three new names to Irish para-athletics.
Aaron Shorten and Shauna Bocquet and Cathal Ryan made their major championships debut in Paris in just with Shorten and Bocquet going on to compete at their first Paralympic Games in Paris.
