Paralympics Ireland, in partnership with Allianz, is inviting people with disabilities and their families to explore Para sport at the Allianz NextGen Discovery Event at Kingfisher Club at the University of Galway on Saturday, 17 October
Whether you are trying sport for the first time, already active or interested in exploring something different, Allianz NextGen offers a welcoming opportunity to get involved, meet athletes and discover opportunities in your local community.
Explore, connect and play
Participants will have the chance to try a range of Para sports, meet coaches, clubs and Paralympians, and learn about the different ways to take part. Activities will cater for different levels of experience, with the emphasis on having fun, building confidence and finding something you enjoy.
For younger participants, play and fundamental movement activities will help develop movement skills and confidence through fun, engaging activities.
Families, teachers, coaches and disability support staff are also encouraged to attend, ask questions and learn more about the sporting opportunities and pathways available.
Meet the NextGen Champions
The event will also give attendees the opportunity to connect with NextGen Champions, Para athletes who will share their experiences, answer questions and help participants picture their own next steps in sport.
Hearing how athletes got started, the opportunities they discovered and what they enjoy about their sport is an important part of showing newcomers what is possible.

Allianz NextGen is about helping people build a lasting connection with sport. By bringing participants together with coaches, clubs and National Governing Bodies, the programme helps people discover opportunities to stay involved beyond the event.
For some, that might mean joining a local club and enjoying regular activity. For others, it could be the beginning of a journey towards competitive Para sport.
