This weekend, Team Ireland returns to the international stage as the World Triathlon Para Series lands in Montreal. A strong seven-athlete squad, including three PTVI pairings, has travelled to Canada ready to compete in one of the pinnacle events of the para triathlon calendar.

Taking place at Montreal’s iconic Parc Jean-Drapeau, athletes will tackle a world-class course that promises to test every element of their race craft. The 750m swim kicks off in the Olympic Basin, followed by a fast and technical 20.4km bike segment over five laps of the famous Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The race finishes with a two-lap, 5km run, also set along the Circuit and the picturesque path bordering the Olympic Basin.

Judith MacCombe, guided by Eimear Nicholls, returns to World Series action in fine form. The duo secured bronze in both the Taranto World Series and the 2025 European Para Triathlon Championships. As they continue to gain experience at the highest level, they are firmly focused on building their world ranking and carrying their medal-winning momentum into Montreal. Twin sister Chloe MacCombe, guided by Aisling Wyer, will also line out for Team Ireland. After a promising debut as a pair at the European Championships, where they placed fifth, this will be only their second outing together. Their goal this weekend is to put together another cohesive race and solidify their world standing.

Tom Williamson arrives in Montreal with confidence and momentum. Off the back of his breakthrough World Para Series podium in Taranto and a successful defence of his European bronze medal in June, Tom is hitting form at just the right time. Currently ranked fourth in the world, he will be aiming for another podium finish to further establish himself as a serious contender in the World Triathlon Para Series standings.

Fresh from a bronze medal finish at the World Triathlon Para Cup in Magog, Donnacha McCarthy and his guide Sean Husband bring solid form into the Montreal race. The pair showed impressive consistency across all three disciplines last weekend and currently sit at a season-best 10th in the World Para Triathlon rankings.
