Irish wheelchair racer Shauna Bocquet will line up among an international field of elite athletes at the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on Sunday, March 15, one of the premier road racing events on the global calendar.

Organised by New York Road Runners, the race will bring together Olympians, Paralympians, national record holders and world medalists across the open and wheelchair divisions.

Bocquet, who represents Ireland internationally in wheelchair racing, will compete in the women’s wheelchair division against a world-class field that includes multiple Paralympic medalists and major marathon champions. Among the headline names in the race are defending champion Manuela Schär, one of the most successful wheelchair racers in history, and Tatyana McFadden, a Paralympic legend with 22 medals to her name.

The 13.1-mile course takes athletes on a unique route through New York City, beginning in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park and finishing in Central Park. The race also crosses the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and passes through Times Square, offering a spectacular backdrop for one of the largest half marathons in the United States.

Bocquet enters the race with strong recent performances on the international circuit, including a personal best of 58:08 set in London in 2025, and will look to test herself against some of the world’s best wheelchair racers.

The United Airlines NYC Half continues to attract one of the strongest professional fields in road racing, with the 2026 edition featuring 30 Olympians and Paralympians, 19 national record holders and 11 global medalists across the open and wheelchair races.
