Ireland’s Dillon Sheridan is the hero of the week this week for fans of the Irish CP Football squad, as he smashed home two goals this morning to send his side well on their way to victory over Argentina.

In a game that saw the boys in green win out 3-0 in the end – the third goal coming courtesy of a neat tap home from Gary Messett – Sheridan was once more the stand-out star, continuing his impressive form from Tuesday night’s clash with the USA which saw him drill home a hat-trick.

Speaking afterwards about how it felt to be the top goal scorer of the tournament to date, the delighted footballer stated: “It’s a great feeling alright, but I suppose the main thing is the results are better now. The fact that we came away with another clean sheet is a great sign.

“My confidence is high, and I’m feeling stronger than I ever have before – the strength and conditioning work we have been putting in is really paying off,” he continued.

“As a team, I think we are a little bit disappointed that we didn’t progress to the semi-final stages of the tournament, but I think in the last two games we have really picked it up a gear and shown others what we can do.

“We are picking up momentum now and I think we’re really clicking with how the management want us to play. We’re really looking forward to our last game against the USA once more this Saturday and hopefully put in another big performance to finish the tournament on a high,” he concluded.

This morning’s win at the CP Football Pre-Paralympic Games tournament in Salou, Spain, comes after two defeats earlier in the week against Brazil and Great Britain.

Ireland will take on the USA on Saturday, May 7th.
