Barry McClements was first to contest a final this evening. Swimming two seconds faster than his heat this morning it unfortunately wasn’t enough for McClements to reach the podium.
Speaking after his final McClements said, “I’m happy with that. I haven’t done any work for that race this year I’ve been focused the 100m swims so it was a bit of enjoyment to go out there and have fun. I attacked the race and paid for it in the end but it was fun.”
McClements is in the pool tomorrow morning in the heat of his final event, the 100m backstroke.
Turner broke her personal best again today in the 50m freestyle final posting a time of 34.71.
Delighted after her final Turner said, “The aim of that final being so close to that 34 this morning was to go out and bring a 34. To go 34.71 I’m delighted I’ve been at 35 now since Tokyo so to get a personal best like that I’m really happy.”
Turner is in the 100m Breaststroke final tomorrow evening.
