Róisín Ní Riain was the first of the Irish swimmers to get on the podium claiming the silver spot in her first final of the week. In a swim that was again agonisingly close to her personal best of 01:06:00, the Limerick swimmer finished the final in a time of 01:06.32.
Speaking after the final Ní Riain said, “I think maybe I would have liked the time to be a little bit faster you know I’ll have to go back and have a look and see what I can improve going forward for the rest of the year and leading into the summer”.
Dearbhaile Brady also featured in the first evening session of the Championships. The Derry swimmer faced stiff competition in her 100m backstroke final finishing 6th in a time of 1:50.58.
The 2024 European Para Swimming Championships will be streamed live on the Para Swimming Facebook Page and Paralympics YouTube Channel.
