Paralympics Ireland Statement

Twitter ASPIRE GRADUATE OPPORTUNITY (1)

Paralympics Ireland welcome the statement received from the International Paralympic Committee regarding the media speculation around the future of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. We are pleased to note that the statement confirmed that the games will go ahead as planned on August 24th.

As a national Paralympic committee we trust that the International Paralympic Committee and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee are taking every step to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all athletes and support staff in every aspect of all plans that are being made for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Paralympics Ireland welcomes the clarity that this statement will give to our Irish Paralympic athletes who are currently training within the government guidelines that have been put in place.

As the organisation with responsibility for the Irish Team at the Paralympic Games we will take all steps to ensure the safety and security of our delegation prior to departure to the games.

In early February we will be receiving the promised ‘Playbooks’ that will detail the delivery of the games. We look forward to receiving these and further information regarding the arrangements to safeguard all athletes and create a safe and secure environment that will provide the best conditions for high performance athletes at the Paralympic Games.
