Bernie Turner, mother to Paralympic Swimmer Nicole Turner, will take over the Instagram feed for Paralympics Ireland to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Bernie has been an essential part of Nicole’s success since she became the youngest member of the Paralympics Ireland team that competed at the Rio Paralympic Games ages just 13.
Bernie does everything with Nicole including travelling to training every day from their Laois base to the Sport Ireland National Aquatic Centre and waiting for hours in their Toyota while Nicole trains.
The role of the parent is often forgotten in an athlete’s success. Bernie is a perfect example of the commitment and sacrifice made by those supporting our best athletes as they strive for glory.
