Women In Sport Focus – Nicole Turner

image-asset-38.png

Over the next several Fridays we will be focusing on the fantastic female athletes who are making waves in Para-Sport. First up is swimming sensation, Nicole Turner:

At just 14 years of age, Nicole was the youngest member of Team Ireland at Rio 2016. Impressively, she qualified for the final in the five events she competed in. She continued to perform in the pool, winning a silver at Europeans in 2018 and then a bronze the World Championships in 2019, which led to her being nominated for the 2019 RTE Sportsperson of the Year. It goes without saying, this year did not go to plan, however, Nicole has showed her strong character with determination and passion with continued training out of the pool during restrictions from Covid-19, as she continues to prepare for the postponed 2020 Paralympic Games.
