It promises to be captivating two days of competition with many athletes already showing great early season form as they ramp up preparations for international targets over the coming weeks and months.

Head of Paralympic Athletics James Nolan said “The athletes are looking forward to the highlight of the indoor season, the Athletics Ireland National Senior Championships. This two day event has World Para Athletics approval and the athletes will be looking to take the opportunity to increase their world ranking.

Greta Streimikyte will be looking to post a time of under 10minutes for 3000m, Cathal Ryan who has improved greatly this year will be looking to continue his development trajectory over 400m and an exciting new 1500m athlete Aaron Shorten will be looking to impress in the heats on Saturday.

Unfortunately, Alex Lee will not compete in the 200m as he is having adjustments done to his blade to maximise performance in the outdoor season.”

Further afield defending champion Patrick Monahan will take to the Spanish roads looking to retain his Seville Marathon title on Sunday. Last year saw him take the top spot with a sprint finish and only 8 seconds separating 1st & 2nd.
