Paralympics Ireland are seeking applicants for the role of Para Swim Athlete Assistant.
As the Athlete Assistant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, individualised support to athlete(s) with a disability as part of the performance Para Swim team preparing for major international championships. Our aim is to enable athletes to achieve their sporting goals while receiving the holistic support needed for their personal development and wellbeing. You will work closely with coaches, medical professionals, support staff, and athletes to foster a positive and inclusive environment.
Successful candidates will travel with the Irish Para Swim team for training and competition. They will receive a day rate of €150.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day support to athlete(s) with disabilities, ensuring their individual needs are met in training and competition environments,
• Assist with the planning and delivery of travel, accommodation, and logistical support for training camps and competitions.
• Serve as a point of contact for athletes, families, and support networks, offering guidance and information on available resources.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g. coaches, physiotherapists, psychologists) to create personalised support plans.
• Advocate for inclusion and accessibility in all aspects of the athlete experience.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and reporting on athlete progress and outcomes.
• Support safeguarding procedures and promote a safe sporting environment for all athletes.
