The five person Team Ireland are in Madeira and ready to compete against the World’s best Para Swimmers. The first swimmer that will compete for the Irish team will be Paralympian, Róisín Ní Riain. The young Limerick star will have a busy week as she competes in five events across the seven days of competition with her first event coming up on Sunday June 12th when she competes in the S13 100m Butterfly Heat.
Paralympic Gold medallist, Ellen Keane is set to compete in two events starting with the SM9 200m Individual Medley Final and then she will wait until Saturday before she returns to the competition pool for her favoured SB8 100m Breaststroke. Paralympic silver medallist, Nicole Turner will also be busy this week when she competes on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Barry McClements will aim to continue his excellent progress when he competes in three events on Tuesday, Thursday and again on Friday. It will then be a big moment for Amy Sheridan who will make her Team Ireland debut in a major international competition when she competes in the S9 100m Butterfly and she will also have the honour of being the flag bearer at Sunday’s opening ceremony for Team Ireland.
